The Most Relaxing Song Ever?on Apr 07, 2017
I love listening to music in the car, sometimes it’s the only thing that can get me through the morning commute. truMedic is headquartered on Long Island, New York, a relatively small island with a very high population density. Long Island traffic can be an absolute nightmare and I know that when I’m in the middle of it, I can feel my shoulders rising towards my ears and my hands gripping the steering wheel. There’s something about a good song that can help calm you down and remind you that there is a whole great, big world outside of your car.
I have a specific playlist that I listen to when I want to relax, but just recently I heard about a song that many claim to be the most relaxing song ever, “Weightless” by British band Marconi Union. I had to give this song a listen and I was very surprised.
“Weightless” is not just an objectively relaxing and calming song, there is science that supports its ability to reduce anxiety in listeners. The song begins playing around 60 beats per minute and the listeners heartbeat slows and synchs with the beat. As the song progresses, the beats per minute gradually slows down and successfully lowers the listener’s heartbeat, reducing levels of anxiety.
After listening to “Weightless” by Marconi Union, I definitely felt more relaxed, I actually felt tired. So, although I recommend listening to this song to help people relax, I do not recommend listening to it while driving a car or while at work.
I decided to go a step further and connected my phone to the truMedic MC-2000 massage chair via Bluetooth so I could listen to “Weightless” reclined in the zero-gravity position while getting a full-body heated massage. Within one minute I fell into a deep sleep and I was actively trying to stay awake so that I could write about the experience.
I absolutely recommend adding music to your meditation and relaxation time. To learn more about music and relaxation, click the links below. And please feel free to leave us a comment and tell us about your favorite song to listen to when you need to relax.
“One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.”
